[Abk. für Trans European Network, dt. »transeuropäisches Netz«], ein europäisches Forschungs- und Wissenschaftsnetz, das von der nicht gewinnorientierten Organisation DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Networking Technologies to Europe) mit Sitz in Cambridge betreut wird. Es ermöglichte zunächst Übertragungsraten von 155 Megabit pro Sekunde, erreicht heute aber schon Raten bis zu 622 Megabit pro Sekunde und verbindet 20 nationale sowie ein regionales Netzwerk. Vorgänger von TEN-155 war das von Februar 1997 bis Dezember 1998 betriebene Netz TEN-34 mit einer Übertragungsrate von 34 Megabit pro Sekunde.
 
Inzwischen werden in Europa die ersten Gigabit-Glasfasernetze realisiert, wie G-WiN des DFN-Vereins.
